GPS device. The site has information about the devices
that I have purchased along with some tips and tricks, usage suggestions
amongst other things.
Why you need at least two GPS devices
I have two GPS
devices that I use.
Why do I need two I hear your ask? Well they are both quite
different and are used for different purposes. The
Explorist is a "go
anywhere" device that is rugged, waterproof, it tracks your path to help
you find your way home, and the data can be used later for trip analysis
and mapping. The TomTom on the other hand is a tool for driving (and
limited walking) that plots a recommended route for your journey from A to
B, then gives you step by step driving instructions on how to get there. So
when your spouse asks you why you need both types, well that's why.

Cool things you can (and should) do with your GPS
- Create some 2D
maps of your journeys
- Create some vertical
profile graphs of your journeys
- Create some 3D topographical maps using DG Terrain
Viewer
- View your track history in Google Earth.
- View your track history in Google Maps.
- Go Geocaching and find treasures in your own
neighbourhood
All of these things are best tackled with a GPS like the Explorist
600, although with a bit of compromise, you could go Geocaching with an
in-car navigator.
